Day 20 of #yoganatomy is Wild Thing or Camatkarasana 💚💚💚 Posting a throwback pic as I’m on 6 hours sleep before heading back to work, but promise to post a fresh pic when I get off! Here are the instructions according to Yoga Journal: ✨Start in Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward-Facing Dog). ✨Bring your weight into your right hand and roll onto the outer edge of your right foot like Vasisthasana (Side Plank Pose). ✨On an inhalation, lift your hips with buoyancy. Stay strong in your right hand making a clawing action with the fingers. Keep the head of the right arm bone back. On an exhalations, step your left foot back and place your toes on the floor with your knee partially bent. ✨Curl back through your upper back to create a sweeping action of the shoulder blades into the back of the rib cage. ✨On an inhalation lift your hips higher until you curl more into a backbend with your right foot solid on the ground. ✨Keep breathing and curl your head back, extending your left arm from your heart and expressing your power and freedom. ✨Hold for 5-10 breaths breaths, return to Down Dog and repeat on the other side.

Modified Camel Pose
#houstontxyogisaug 
1. Come up onto your knees. Take padding under your knees if needed.
2. Draw your hands up the side of your body as you start to open your chest.
3. Reach your hands back one at a time to grasp your heels or blocks to modify.
4. Bring your hips forward so that they are over your knees.
5. Let your head come back, opening your throat.

Modify: Curl your toes under and come to the balls of your feet if you cannot reach your heels when the feet are flat, or use blocks on either side of your feet.

Benefits : 
Camel Pose creates maximum compression of the spine, which stimulates the nervous system.

It also improves flexibility of the neck and spine, relieves backache, and helps degenerative spinal problems.

By stretching the abdominal organs, Camel helps constipation, and it also stretches the throat and thyroid and parathyroid glands.
